Engineering and Manufacturing
Four years of young and associate leadership programmes for a German company in Pune
The India unit of a large German company (name withheld)
- Audience
- High-potential young professionals and associate-level leaders
- Programme
- Young Leadership Program (YLP) and Associate Leadership Program (ALP)
- Delivery
- In-person in Pune
The challenge
The company's India unit needed a steady supply of leaders who could grow with the business. Promising young talent and associate-level leaders were ready for more responsibility but had no structured route to leadership.
Context
As a German parent with a strong engineering culture, the company valued precision and process. Leadership development had to fit that culture while building the people skills that technical excellence alone does not provide.
Our diagnosis
Two groups needed two different journeys. Young professionals needed self-leadership, ownership and influence. Associate leaders needed to lead teams, delegate, give feedback and take decisions with confidence.
The intervention
Two linked programmes. The Young Leadership Program (YLP) focused on self-awareness, accountability, communication and early influence. The Associate Leadership Program (ALP) built team leadership, coaching, feedback, decision-making and cross-cultural working with German colleagues.
How it was delivered
Both programmes ran in Pune year after year for four years, refined with the client each cycle so the content stayed relevant as the business and its talent changed.
Outcome
- A four-year partnership running two leadership programmes in parallel
- A clear leadership pathway from young professional to associate leader
- Programmes refined each year with the client rather than repeated unchanged
