The challenge
Branch leaders were risk-averse. Ambitious targets set by the leadership team were quietly discounted long before the quarter began.
Context
A distributed branch network where each leader carried commercial responsibility but had limited exposure to structured goal-setting.
Our diagnosis
The limiting factor was self-belief and fear of visible failure rather than capability or market access.
The intervention
A leadership intensive combining goal-setting frameworks with experiential activities designed to confront fear directly, then translate the experience into commercial commitments.
How it was delivered
Facilitated with the leadership team present, so commitments were made in front of the people they would be held by.
Outcome
- Leaders committed to stretch targets in the session rather than negotiating them down
- The client described the intervention as their strongest leadership programme in three years
- The programme was repeated for the next leadership tier
He trained us to aim high and kill the fear. The broken glass walk activity was very well executed, a great learning experience.
Start with one cohort. Judge the behaviour change.
Most engagements begin as a single pilot cohort, so your team can evaluate the facilitation and the follow-through before a wider rollout.
