Program
Psychological Safety Workshop for Teams and Managers
Teams where problems are raised early, because raising them costs nothing.
- Duration
- 1 day
- Format
- In-person, delivered with intact teams
- Group size
- 10–20 participants
The problem we are solving
In many teams the risk of speaking up is higher than the risk of staying quiet, so issues surface only when they are unavoidable.
Leaders often believe their team is open, because nobody has told them otherwise. That is the point.
About this program
A psychological safety workshop for teams where people stay quiet in meetings and raise issues too late. Participants learn what makes speaking up safe, how leaders react to bad news and how to disagree without cost.
Delivered with the manager in the room, because safety is set by their behaviour more than anyone's.
What changes in behaviour
- Understand what makes speaking up feel safe or costly
- React to bad news in a way that invites more of it
- Disagree and challenge without personal risk
- Run meetings where quieter people contribute
- Agree explicit team norms and hold them
What the program covers
- What psychological safety is and is not
- How leaders create or remove it
- Speaking up, disagreeing and admitting error
- Meeting practices that include everyone
- Team norms and follow-through
Who it is for
- Intact teams and their manager
- Leadership teams setting the tone
- Teams recovering after a difficult period
- Should the manager attend?
- Yes. Safety is set mostly by the manager's behaviour, so running the session without them changes very little.
Start with one cohort. Judge the behaviour change.
Most engagements begin as a single pilot cohort, so your team can evaluate the facilitation and the follow-through before a wider rollout.
